Information for General Public

The World Bank Treasury is responsible for the financing of IBRD operations, management of IBRD balance sheet risk, the investment of liquidity and other portfolios for the World Bank Group and investment of IBRD pension funds. Over the past several decades, the Treasury has accumulated significant expertise in these areas, which it deploys for developmental purposes under cost recovery arrangements. These activities include providing financial expertise to sovereign governments in the areas of public debt management and to central banks in the management of their foreign currency reserves.
