World Bank USD 50 million 3-year Green Bonds
Washington, DC, March 1, 2012 – Today the World Bank (International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, rated Aaa/AAA) announced the issuance of USD 50 million fixed rate 3-year World Bank Green Bonds. The lead order for this transaction was from New York State Common Retirement Fund.
World Bank Green Bonds support World Bank’s lending to eligible development programs that are designed to address the challenges of climate change in the developing world. Examples of the types of eligible projects include alternative energy installations, new technologies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, reforestation, watershed management and flood protection.
To date, the World Bank has issued over USD 3 billion equivalent of Green Bonds through 47 transactions in 17 currencies. SEB is the sole underwriter for this transaction.

Maturity date: June 30, 2015 (extendable* to December 20, 2017)
