IDA’s New 15-Year Euro Benchmark Bond Attracts Strong Investor Demand

WASHINGTON, DC, May 13, 2026 - The International Development Association (IDA, Aaa/AAA) priced a Euro-denominated 15-year Sustainable Development Bond that matures on May 20, 2041. The bond raised EUR 2 billion from investors globally to support the financing of IDA’s sustainable development activities in member countries.

The bond offers an annual coupon of 3.625% and an issue price of 99.227%. It was priced at 26.4 basis points over the German Bund reference bond, offering investors an annual yield of 3.693%. DZ Bank, LBBW, Natixis, and NatWest are joint lead managers for the transaction.

“We are delighted with the response from Euro investors for this IDA 15-year benchmark bond, which reaffirms IDA’s position as a trusted, high-quality borrower with a mission that resonates deeply in capital markets. The strong demand reflects investors’ commitment to positive impact in low-income countries - where IDA helps economies develop, businesses thrive, and people access the opportunities they need to build better lives,” said Jorge Familiar, Vice President and Treasurer, World Bank Group.

“Today’s deal demonstrates the strong following IDA has established amongst European investors across the spectrum. This first IDA transaction in over six months sets another important reference point at the longer end of the curve, thereby confirming the role of the EUR as the key currency for managing the long end on the liability side. Congratulations to IDA on the smooth execution and the excellent result. The DZ BANK team is pleased it had the opportunity to support IDA in their mission to end extreme poverty and boost shared prosperity on a livable planet,” said Friedrich Luithlen, MD, Head of Syndicate and Debt Capital Markets (DCM), DZ BANK.

“It was a particular privilege to support the International Development Association (IDA) with this landmark 15-year Sustainable Development Bond for EUR 2 billion. The broad international investor demand in excess of EUR 5 billion was a testimony both to IDA’s outstanding mission in support of low-income countries and excellent recognition in the triple-A market. No doubt this volatile world is a better place with IDA and the World Bank Group!” said Patrick Seifert, Global Head of Corporates & DCM, on behalf of LBBW’s team.

“We are delighted to have supported IDA on its return to the euro market for the much anticipated first issuance of 2026. The EUR 2 billion 15-year benchmark is a testament to IDA's exceptional credit standing and the unwavering confidence of the investor community in the institution's mission. Pricing 2 basis points through initial guidance, in a market navigating geopolitical headwinds, speaks volumes about the quality of IDA's name. Natixis is proud to have acted as Joint Lead Manager on this landmark transaction,” said Thomas Leocadio, Co-Head Public Sector DCM, Natixis.

“IDA returned to the EUR primary market with a 15-year benchmark transaction. The deal attracted a highly diversified and granular EUR 5.2 billion order book, it’s largest since January 2025, enabling an excellent EUR 2 billion print. This issuance reflects our wider commitment and focus on supporting sustainable development, and we are proud to have been involved at NatWest,” said Damien Carde, Managing Director, Head of Frequent Borrower Group DCM, NatWest.
