Our focus is long-term partnerships for institution and capacity building
The World Bank Treasury provides advisory services, training and tailored capacity building services to public debt managers and other official sector managers of public balance sheets. The focus is on establishing an asset-liability management framework to help governments balance their financing, cost and risk objectives. Our advisory engagements typically begin with a comprehensive diagnostic of the initial situation and a recommended reform plan, and may extend all the way from reform design to implementation. Transaction execution services, plus an extensive menu of customized financing and risk management products are part of Treasury’s comprehensive approach to building capacity in this critical policy area.
Treasury embodies over 60 years of experience as financial manager for the World Bank Group and its affiliates. Treasury manages IBRD's $100+ billion debt portfolio and executes more than $20 billion in derivatives transactions annually for IBRD's balance sheet and on behalf of clients. Treasury is the nexus of the institution’s expertise in sovereign debt management, drawing experts from the world’s top public debt management offices.
